PITTSBURGH (July 3, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Kenardo Forbes has been named to the USL Team of the Week after recording the game-winning goal and his first tally as a Hound last week against defending league champion Louisville City FC.
Helping the Hounds extend their unbeaten streak to four games, as well as capture their first win in Louisville since 2015, Forbes’ game-winning goal came in the 79th minute. Leading the break, Forbes sent a ball to Romeo Parkes, who sprinted down the left side of the pitch. Gathering the sphere, Parkes then sent a cross back into the middle of the penalty box. As the ball popped free to him, Forbes released a low shot that deflected off of Louisville traffic in front and into the back of the net to provide the Hounds with the only goal of the match.
The Kingston, Jamaica native put in an all-around solid performance, chipping in an additional and team-leading five tackles.
Forbes has been a steady presence down the middle for the Hounds since joining them from Rochester this offseason. The midfielder leads the team with 60.3 passes per 90 minutes, as well as has three assists. He is one of seven players this season to have eclipsed the 1,000-minute mark (1,121).
The accolade marks the ninth time, and second straight week, a Hound has been named to USL Team of the Week.
Pittsburgh is back in action tomorrow night, hosting North Carolina FC on Independence Day. Set to kick off at 7 p.m., tickets are still available at www.riverhounds.com, while fans can also catch all the action live on ESPN+.
