
Riverhounds SC (9-3-7) will be returning home to face off against the Richmond Kickers (5-11-3) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1 at Highmark Stadium.
The Richmond Kickers sit 14th in the East with a record of 5-11-3, six spots out of the playoff race. Last weekend, Richmond fell 3-0 to the Charleston Battery after previously defeating them 2-0 at home earlier this season. The Kickers dropped their first meeting of the year against the Hounds, 2-1, on June 2 and currently hold a goal differential of minus-18.
Leading the attack for the Kickers is forward Brian Shriver. Joining the club this season, Shriver has appeared in 19 games and has converted on 21 percent of his shots on goal. Shriver currently leads the Kickers offense in goals (6), assists (6), shots (28) and chances created (26).
Strengths
Disciplined: Sitting right under the Hounds, the Kickers have one of the lowest number of yellow cards in the East. Through 19 games, Richmond has 29 yellow cards compared to the Hounds with 23.
Converting: While taking 31 fewer shots than the Hounds, Richmond converts on 13.7 percent of its strikes. The Hounds trail slightly behind with 12.6 percent.
Weaknesses
On the road: Seven of Richmond’s 11 losses come from matches on its opponent’s turf. The Kickers are currently 1-7-0 on the road.
Defense: The Kickers often struggle with breakdowns in the back, conceding an average of two each game and 38 goals overall.
