PITTSBURGH (August 21, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (12-3-8) wraps up a brief two-game homestand, welcoming the Tampa Bay Rowdies (7-10-6) to Highmark Stadium tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. kick.
Last facing each other on May 19, the two clubs played to a 2-2 draw at Al Lang Stadium. This will be the third time the Hounds have hosted the Rowdies at Highmark Stadium. They have won the prior two matches by a combined count of 3-to-0.
Pittsburgh will attempt the finish the month of August unbeaten at home on Wednesday night, currently sitting at 2-0-1 in three matches so far. With a win, the Hounds would capture their eighth victory at Highmark Stadium this season, which would mark the first time since 2004 the club has accomplished that feat.
In addition, a win tomorrow night would ensure a winning record at home for the Hounds for only the fourth time in the modern era of USL play (since 2011). In each of the previous three occurrences, with the most recent coming in 2015, the Hounds have reached the playoffs – 2011 and 2013 being the other two instances.
Helping their cause is Tampa Bay has struggled mightily away from home, last winning on May 26. The Rowdies hold a 2-7-1 record on the road and, overall, have not scored a goal in three straight matches.
Tickets to Wednesday’s match are still available and can be found by visiting www.riverhounds.com. The game can also be streamed live via ESPN+ with a paid subscription.
