Louisville City FC (13-5-8) has its eyes on the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference, as it takes on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (13-4-10) at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium. The Hounds won their first meeting this season – a 1-0 result at Slugger Stadium.
Before Louisville heads to Pittsburgh, it will complete a game against conference-leading FC Cincinnati on Tuesday. The match, which originally started on Saturday, will pick up in the 38th minute after a suspension due to heavy rain and lightning. FC Cincinnati currently holds a 1-0 lead in this showdown.
Not including this halted contest, Louisville holds a 2-1-2 record in its past five games – the one loss coming at the hands of last-place Toronto FC II. The USL reigning champions have played well at home (6-2-5) and on the road (7-3-3) this season.
Currently, Louisville is in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but only two points away from tying the second-place Hounds.
Cameron Lancaster has been the class of the league when it comes to offense this season. The striker leads the entire USL with 18 goals and 71 shots in 2018. He potted two of these goals during the team’s last result, a 2-2 draw against the Charleston Battery. With the season approaching just one month left of play, Lancaster finds himself positioned to hoist the Golden Boot award, as he has a two-tally lead on the next closest competitor.
