PITTSBURGH (September 28, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (15-4-11) wraps up a two-game road swing with a visit to the Charlotte Independence (9-11-10) tomorrow night at the Sportsplex at Matthews.
Set for a 7 p.m. kick, the two sides have met already once this season, playing to a nil-nil draw at Highmark Stadium in late August.
Clinching a playoff spot earlier this week, the Hounds now shift their focus to locking up a home postseason date at Highmark Stadium for the first time in franchise history. Currently second in the East, Pittsburgh can clinch a home playoff game with a win or a loss/tie from Indy Eleven against FC Cincinnati.
Despite it’s record, Charlotte will present a formidable foe, especially at home, as the club has conceded defeat only three times in 16 games this season at Matthews. Additionally, the Independence have had the Hounds’ number since joining the league in 2015, holding a 5-0-2 record all-time in head-to-head contests.
Fans hoping to catch Saturday’s match can watch live locally on Pittsburgh’s CW or stream the match on ESPN+. Up-to-the-minute stats can also be found on USL Match Center. In addition, the Hounds will be hosting a Watch Party at Smokin’ Joe’s Saloon in South Side for fans of age with drink and food specials including a free round of Hounds Ale after every Hounds goal and 45-cent wings. Festivities kick off at 6 p.m.
