PITTSBURGH (October 4, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (15-4-12) closes its regular season home slate with a visit from FC Cincinnati (23-3-6) on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium.
Set for a 7 p.m. kick, this will be the fourth meeting overall – third in the regular season – between the two sides. Cincinnati, fresh off clinching the USL Regular Season crown, has gotten the better of the results with a 3-0-1 record.
Finishing a two-game road swing unbeaten, the Hounds return home with a playoff berth and homefield for at least the first round clinched. The club’s focus now lies on the No. 2 spot in the conference, where despite being tied with Louisville in games played (31) and points (57), it trails last year’s league champs via tiebreaker for wins (15-to-14).
For the Hounds to catch and overtake Louisville, picking up three points against Cincinnati will go a long ways, but also be a considerable challenge. The Queen City side has not conceded defeat since May 26 and currently has won 10 straight games dating back to August. Additionally, the Hounds are 0-5-3 all-time against Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh’s attack will to provide the spark needed, as the club has scored multiple goals in five straight games – the longest such stretch in franchise history during the modern era of USL play (since 2011).
Off the pitch, the Black and Gold have a whole host of festivities going down. The Hounds say thank you to the fans for Fan Appreciation Night with the first 2,000 in attendance receiving co-branded “boom sticks,” courtesy of EPIC Brokers & Consultants.
The club will also be celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Kick for Cancer, presented by Allegheny Health Network. The first 1,000 fans, in addition to getting a boom stick, will receive a special pink shirt, courtesy of AHN. The Hounds will wear special edition kits that will be raffled off with proceeds going to local breast cancer advocacy organization Glimmer of Hope.
Lastly, be sure to visit additional sponsors on hand, including Carnegie Science Center and Penn Brewery.
Tickets to Saturday’s match are still available and can be found by visiting www.riverhounds.com. The game can also be streamed live via ESPN+ with a paid subscription.
