PITTSBURGH (November 15, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has re-signed midfielder Kenardo Forbes to a one-year deal with a club option for the 2020 season, pending USL and USSF approval.
Playing his first season with the club in 2018, Forbes paced all Hounds with eight assists. He also tied for the team lead in games played (33), helping the squad to its first-ever home playoff match at Highmark Stadium. After the season, Forbes was named USL All-League Second Team for the second time in his career (2016).
“Kenardo is one of the few players in this league who can dictate the pace of a game on a consistent basis,” head coach Bob Lilley said. “With his versatility and soccer IQ, we’re able to employ him anywhere in the midfield. He’s just one of those players who makes the players around him better.”
Setting career highs in goals (four) and points (16) this past season, Forbes served as a catalyst for the Pittsburgh offense. The Kingston, Jamaica native currently sits at 13 goals, 22 assists and 48 points for his four-year USL career.
In addition to his efforts in the offensive third, the midfielder helped the Hounds on the defensive end during the 2018 campaign. He finished fifth on the team in both tackles (54) and interceptions (50).
Prior to inking this deal, Forbes originally had an option picked up by the club on Tuesday. The Hounds currently have 11 players under contract entering the offseason.
