Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (2-1-4) will look to keep its six-game unbeaten streak alive this weekend against the Charleston Battery (4-1-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at MUSC Health Stadium. Charleston is streaking as well as of late, winning three out of its last four matches.
Season So Far
The Battery currently sit in fifth place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings after a dramatic 1-0 stoppage time victory last weekend at Memphis 901.
The club also is unbeaten at home with a 3-0-1 record at MUSC Health Stadium. The team has won its last three games at home (Nashville SC, Charlotte Independence and Hartford Athletic).
Charleston’s lone loss this season came at Bethlehem Steel FC – a 3-1 road defeat.
Players To Watch
Charleston has a dangerous attack led by its two top forwards, Ian Svantesson and Zeiko Lewis. Svantesson has three goals on 15 shots, with eight of those being on target in only five total appearances. Meanwhile, Lewis has two goals on a team-leading 16 shots this season.
Strength: Offensive Depth
While Charleston has had positive production from its two top strikers, shots have come throughout the roster. Of 19 players who have logged time this campaign, only five have not recorded a shot. Six players on its roster have recorded five shots or more, so Pittsburgh will need to defend multiple attacking positions around the pitch.
Weakness: First Half Production
Through Charleston’s first seven games on the season, its offense has been ineffective in creating early scoring chances. The Battery have only scored three of their 11 total goals in the first half this season. If the Hounds can create early scoring chances and put one in the back of the net in the opening period, it could put Charleston on its heels moving forward.
