Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will battle Indy Eleven not once, but twice, this week. First being Wednesday in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium, then 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in a USL Championship match.
The Season So Far
Indy Eleven is off to a strong start this year. In USL Championship action, the Eleven is holding their own as they have not lost a game the whole month of May. But on the other hand, most of these games have been a draw – they have only won one game in the month of May (1-0-3).
As for Open Cup action, Indy played well in the second round having beat Lansing Ignite FC, 1-0, at the Sellick Bowl despite playing down a man for more than half of the game due to a red card.
Player To Watch
This upcoming week, the player to watch is forward Dane Kelly. He leads the team with four goals and 28 shots. He also has an assist this season, giving him nine points.
Strength
Clean Sheets: Indy Eleven is tied for second in the Eastern Conference with six clean sheets.
Weakness
Red Card: In the last Open Cup game, Evan Newton, the main goalkeeper for the Eleven, earned a red card and will be out for this Wednesday’s game against the Hounds. Newton has all six of Indy’s USL Championship clean sheets this season.
