Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (2-1-6) will face Indy Eleven (5-2-3) for the second time in a four-day period, this time playing the Eastern Conference foe at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. This match will be televised on Pittsburgh’s CW.
If the Hounds come away with the victory, it would mark their 200th all-time win, including league, postseason and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action.
Double-Dip
The Hounds had the advantage against Indy this past Wednesday at Highmark Stadium, defeating the adversaries, 1-0, in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. The club will now head to Indianapolis to try for a rare two-win week against the same opponent.
Ship Anchored
As defender Joe Greenspan was issued a red card after a second caution last time out against the Charlotte Independence, he will be forced to sit out the match against Indy on Saturday. The Hounds will look to fellow center back Tobi Adewole to especially hold down the backline this weekend.
Work Horses
Thomas Vancaeyezeele and Ryan James are the only Hounds to have played every minute of this campaign. This includes playing the entirety of both the club’s Open Cup matches. Each will continue to be a vital part of the team moving forward.
By the Numbers: 699
The Hounds have scored 699 all-time goals in league play.
Key to Victory: Crack Newton and Indy Defense
For Indy, goalkeeper Evan Newton has put together a strong season. He is currently tied for second in the Eastern Conference with six clean sheets. The first step to three points will be to crack Newton.
