PITTSBURGH (July 25, 2019) – From the Riverhounds Development Academy, Tessa Dellarose and Luke Peperak have been named to the ECNL National Training Camp and Boys ECNL National Training Camp, respectively. In addition, Riverhounds Academy Director of Speed and Strength Mike Whiteman has been named to the Boys ECNL National Training Camp staff.
Dellarose, a member of the 2003 RDA Girls team, will participate in ECNL National Camp action July 26-30 at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. This is on the heels of Dellarose participating in a U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Identification Center this past May.
On the boys side, Peperak will head to the Bahamas for the Boys ECNL National Training Camp from July 28 through Aug. 1. A member of the 2002 RDA Boys team, Peperak was earlier training with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC professional team this summer as part of the organization’s Pathway Program for older RDA boys players.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for both Tessa and Luke to represent the club at the ECNL National Training Camps,” Academy Director Scott Gibson said. “They have both worked hard all season long and are deserved of the selection. Both will come back as better players after having had such an experience training among the leagues’ best players.”
The Riverhounds Academy will also be represented on the coaching staff, as Whiteman will oversee physical preparation and recovery of the Boys ECNL National Training Camp participants. Whiteman has previous experience developing numerous MLS, USL and collegiate athletes, in addition to youth players.
“Mike is an outstanding trainer and will provide the athletes nothing but the best,” Gibson said. “We are happy that he has an opportunity to showcase his work on the national stage, as it’s fully deserved.”
