Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (8-3-8) returns home for a matchup against Memphis 901 FC (4-9-6) at 7 p.m. this Saturday at Highmark Stadium. The Hounds return home to the South Shore after defeating Hartford Athletic, 4-2, in Connecticut last weekend.
The Season So Far
Memphis has struggled to find solid footing this season, collecting several losses throughout its inaugural campaign in the USL Championship.
Memphis’ biggest obstacle this season has been putting together successful streaks of matches. The club have not been able to sustain a winning streak of two or more this season, losing each time after collecting a victory. In June, the club only collected one point during the month. Newcomers to the USL Championship can experience initial setbacks in their first season.
Pittsburgh and Memphis played in a previous match earlier this season in Memphis, however the match was abandoned due to inclement weather and subsequently rescheduled for Sept. 24.
Players to Watch
Memphis 901 FC forward Elliot Collier has been a wrecking machine in the attacking zone for the USL Championship newcomer. Collier leads the team with five goals, 33 shots and 19 shots on target.
On the other side of the ball, midfielder Ewan Grandison leads Memphis with eight blocks, 39 interceptions and 48 tackles this season.
Strength: Collective Chances
Of the 24 players on the Memphis roster, 21 have collected one or more shots this season.
Weakness: Goal Production
Memphis currently has the second-lowest goal total this season in the USL Championship Eastern Conference with 20 goals.
