PITTSBURGH (October 1, 2019) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Kenardo Forbes has been named USL Championship Player of the Week for his two-goal performance in the team’s 3-0 victory against Indy Eleven this past Saturday at Highmark Stadium. In addition, goalkeeper Kyle Morton was named to the league’s Team of the Week for his three-save shutout performance.
Forbes posted his first goal in the 40th minute, blasting a pinpoint accurate shot into the top left-hand corner from distance. He completed the brace in the 71st minute, when he scored on a tough-angle shot along the end line.
With this brace, the Kingston, Jamaica native tied his single-season career highs in goals (four) and points (16).
This is the sixth time Forbes has been named to USL Championship Team of the Week this season.
On the defensive end, Morton racked up three saves to give the squad its club-record seventh straight clean sheet. The keeper recorded two saves in the first half and another in the second half.
In addition, Neco Brett was named to Team of the Week bench for his three-point performance against Indy. The striker fired in a goal off a free kick from about 30 yards out in the match’s 15th minute and assisted Forbes’ tally in the 71st minute.
The Hounds are back in action at 7:30 p.m. tonight, as they battle Loudoun United FC at Segra Field. Pittsburgh will overtake first place in the Eastern Conference with a draw or win.
