PITTSBURGH (October 24, 2019) – Six members of the Riverhounds Development Academy have been selected to participate in upcoming Generation Adidas Cup player pool training sessions within the Columbus Crew SC under-12 grouping.
Brody Kennedy, Caleb Campanaro, Calder Mahan, Carson Torres, Chase Wilojanapa and Harlan Smith were selected to participate in player pool training sessions beginning on Oct. 27 in Dublin, Ohio.
“We are continuously looking for ways to push our players into elite level opportunities,” Academy Director Scott Gibson said. “The Generation Adidas Cup will provide such a platform, and we wish the boys the best of luck throughout selection process with Columbus Crew SC. Our staff at the RDA do an excellent job developing our players, and we are excited to see how they do.”
Columbus Crew SC Academy will be forming a U12 (2008/2009) team for the upcoming Generation Adidas Cup from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 in Atlanta, Georgia. The games will be 7-v-7 with a squad size of 10 total players.
The selection of players for the final event was be based around their demonstrated ability in continuous display of passion, drive and commitment to further their individual development, among other criteria.
These six RDA players participated in the Crew SC Festival on Sept. 29 before being selected to take part in the upcoming Generation Adidas Cup pool training.
In addition to this set of players training with Crew SC Academy, Wilojanapa and J.J. Vozar spent time training with FC Cincinnati earlier this month. Vozar was also a member of the 2018 Generation Adidas Cup team for Columbus Crew SC.
