The Riverhounds (5-7-5) head to Bethlehem Steel FC (8-6-2) for their second straight road match at 5 p.m. on Saturday. This will be the first meeting between the in-state foes this season.
Sweep it away
After Trey Mitchell sustained a shoulder injury on June 22, Keasel Broome has played magnificently in net for the Hounds. In Mitchell’s absence, the Claymont, Delaware native shut out the opposition in both of his appearances, making a combined six saves. The Hounds will look to continue to ride Broome’s hot streak on Saturday.
Herting the Steel
In the teams’ previous two meetings (both dating back to last year), Corey Hertzog posted a goal in each of the contests. The forward scored early in both of the games, as each tally came before the 20th minute. Currently in a scoring drought, Hertzog has not scored since a home match against Orlando City B on June 3, so the striker could be due to break out.
Feeling 22
Last time out against Orlando City B, Tobi Adewole (No. 22) recorded a team-high five clearances. The rookie center back has started the past two games for the Hounds, helping solidify a defense that has tried to fill the void of Lalas Abubakar and Joe Greenspan, as both players are no longer on loan with the team. Adewole will look to continue to provide a strong defensive presence for the Hounds moving forward.
Seku Conneh leads Bethlehem with 16 points on the season (seven goals and two assists). The forward also has been rather efficient, placing 17 of his 35 shots on target. The Hounds defense will need to lock in on Conneh on Saturday.
Bethlehem Steel FC goalkeepers have had a strong season up to this point. Jake McGuire has largely held down the position, starting 12 games on the season with a 0.83 goals against average. The Hounds will need to generate quality scoring chances this weekend, as beating the in-state rival’s keeper will be no easy task.
