After tying Bethlehem Steel FC this past weekend, the Riverhounds (5-7-6) remain unbeaten during their three-game road swing. Pittsburgh will look to grab more points in its third straight road match against the Rochester Rhinos (6-3-7) at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.
It’s oKAY
After being out of league play due to a knee injury since May 13, Kay Banjo returned to the field this past weekend against Bethlehem and recorded six minutes. Before sustaining his injury, the striker was piecing together a successful rookie campaign, scoring two goals and registering an assist in seven appearances (two starts). Moving forward, Banjo gives the Hounds another scoring threat and needed depth on the frontline.
Full tank
For the first time this season, Chevaughn Walsh logged a full-90 minutes on the Hounds frontline. The striker has been on a hot streak, scoring three goals in Pittsburgh’s past four games. Walsh will attempt to make it four tallies in five matches this Saturday.
Golden Glove
Tomas Gomez, the 2016 USL Golden Glove winner, is having another remarkable year for Rochester, posting a .763 save percentage and 0.64 goals-allowed-average in 14 games. The goalkeeper also leads the Eastern Conference with seven clean sheets on the season. The Hounds frontline will have a tough match come Saturday.
For the first time this season, Kevin Kerr did not play a full-90 as he logged 68 minutes against Bethlehem this past weekend. The team captain still holds the team lead in minutes played (1,598) on the season and remains a fixture in Pittsburgh’s midfield. He is a good bet to once again secure 90 minutes against Rochester.
Last time out against Bethlehem, the Hounds recorded 15 shots – a total the club has reached only two other times this season. However, only two of these 15 shots went on target. Pittsburgh will need to post better accuracy numbers this weekend.
