PITTSBURGH (Aug. 10, 2021) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC midfielder Alex Dixon was selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week for the third consecutive week, the league announced today.
Dixon has been on a scoring tear of late, and he added two more goals in the Hounds’ 3-2 win on the road Friday at the Charleston Battery. In the past three matches, Dixon has totaled five goals and an assist, and he has been directly involved with 6 of 10 goals scored during the Hounds’ current four-game winning streak.
In addition to his scoring against Charleston, Dixon also added a key pass, led the team with three open-play crosses and connected on 21 of 28 passes overall, 20 of which were in the attacking half.
The Week 16 honor is Dixon’s fourth overall this season, having been selected previously to the team in weeks 6, 14 and 15. Of his team-leading four selections, two were as a forward and two were as a midfielder, the position he played in the win over Charleston.
The Hounds (10-4-3) remain in first place in the Atlantic Division, and they host fellow divisional contenders Miami FC (8-6-3) in their next match, Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
