(May 28, 2022) — The Hounds are set to close out the month of May when they meet Miami FC for the first time this season on Miami’s home field at Riccardo Silva Stadium. This match will complete back-to-back road games for the Hounds, both taking place in the Sunshine State.
The Hounds had their two-game winning streak snapped when they fell short to the Tampa Bay Rowdies, 3-1, in their most recent match on May 21. Alex Dixon got the team’s lone goal for his second of the season just 10 minutes into the game, but the Rowdies responded with three unanswered goals to capture the win.
Dixon is among a handful of players who have found his offensive rhythm in recent weeks with his goal against the Rowdies and an assist on the game-winning goal by Russell Cicerone against El Paso on May 14; the assist tied him for the team lead with Kenardo Forbes. Dane Kelly, meanwhile had a strong month of April with a league-best five goals in the month, but he has been stuck on six total since the start of May.
As for their opponent, Miami is coming off its fifth win of the season after putting four goals past the Charleston Battery in a shutout win. Romeo Parkes, who found the back of the net during that match and is Miami’s leading goal scorer with three goals, will be welcoming his former team to his new home turf for the first time.
In addition to Parkes, Othello Bah (two goals), Florian Valot (one goal, three assists), and Adonijah Reid (one goal, two assists) lead Miami’s attack. Though they only have 14 goals in 12 matches, Miami isn’t afraid to take shots on net in search of goal scoring opportunities, especially Joshua Perez (11 shots), Kyle Murphy (10 shots) and Parkes (20 shots).
Road games haven’t turned out in favor of the Hounds this season as they have dropped their past three USL matches away from home. The schedule hasn’t made the early road trips easy, however, as they have already faced all of the Eastern Conference’s other top teams on the road. The fourth-place Hounds have already visited first-place Memphis (3-0 win), second-place Louisville (2-0 loss), third-place Detroit (1-1 draw) and fifth-place Tampa Bay (3-1 loss) ahead of this game with sixth-place Miami.
The Hounds hold a 1-2-1 head-to-head record against Miami after their four meetings last year, and this year’s first matchup will be shown on 22 The Point and streamed on ESPN+.
