Wrapping up a three-game homestand, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (13-4-11) will battle Indy Eleven (12-8-9) at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Highmark Stadium. In the midst of their first season in the same league, the sides tied both of their previous meetings in 2018.
Playoff Picture
The Hounds rank second place in the Eastern Conference, although the rest of the pack does not sit too far behind. The difference between the Black and Gold and fifth-place Indy is only five points. As Pittsburgh aims for a home playoff game, it will have its hands full with a talented Indy team this weekend.
Career Year
In his fourth season at the USL level and first campaign with the Hounds, Kenardo Forbes has put together a career year in the midfield. He already has set career highs in points (14) and assists (eight) while tying his career high in goals (three). Leading the team with 42 chances created, he will continue to be a key factor in the Pittsburgh attack.
Masked Man
After missing five games due to injury, goalkeeper Dan Lynd returned for the Hounds last time out against Louisville City FC. Wearing a mask to help protect his face, Lynd helped the team to a 2-2 draw. He will look to tack on to his single-season club-record 11 shutouts, as Pittsburgh battles Indy this Saturday.
The Hounds have not recorded a shutout in their past five matches. Despite this, the team still ranks No. 1 in the USL with 15 clean sheets this season.
Jack McInerney has headed the Indy attack in 2018, leading the club with nine goals and 20 points. He notched two of these goals the last time Pittsburgh and Indy met – a 2-2 draw on Aug. 29 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Black and Gold will need to lock down McInerney this weekend.
