PITTSBURGH (July 19, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will have plenty in store off the pitch, as the club takes on the Charleston Battery on Saturday, July 21 at Highmark Stadium.
The Hounds will host Concussion Awareness Night, presented by Allegheny Health Network, in addition to having a special auction table on site for Wins For Kids to raise money for Pirates Charities and the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh.
The sixth night of the club’s Health Series with AHN – the official medical provider of the Riverhounds SC – the series is designed to educate fans and generate awareness about a range of health topics including heart disease prevention, pediatric orthopaedic and concussion awareness, prostate and cancer awareness, and ways to live a healthy life and avoid injury.
AHN will have on hand a 20-foot inflatable brain for fans to walk through. Fans will have the opportunity to engage with orthopaedic, neuroscience and concussion specialists as well.
Pirates Charities will be present on behalf of 12-year-old Jacob Haugh, who was born with autism. Through Wins For Kids, Jacob has raised nearly $25,000 for both the MLB club’s charity outreach and the Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh. Beginning the initiative at the age of nine, he received the National Philanthropy Day’s Outstanding Youth Award in 2017 and continues to spread his outreach with organizations such as the Hounds, California University of Pennsylvania men’s ice hockey team and sevenly.org.
Before the match, fans will have the chance to meet the Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot. The special auction table will be present throughout the game and include signed jerseys from the Hounds, Pirates and Borussia Dortmund.
Tickets to Saturday’s match, beginning at just $13, are still available and can be found by visiting www.riverhounds.com.
