The Riverhounds (8-9-11), which capped a two-game home stand with a 1-1 tie against Rochester this past weekend, now turn their focus to a road match against Bethlehem Steel FC (10-11-5) at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Sweep the State
The Hounds hold an undefeated record (3-0-2) against in-state opponents this season and with a win on Sunday can finish the year without a loss against the Harrisburg City Islanders and Steel FC. Pittsburgh took a draw in its first game at Bethlehem and will look to at least match that result this weekend.
Playoff Picture
Bethlehem and Pittsburgh each sit one point outside of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference in ninth and 10th place, respectively. Although both teams currently hold the same total of 35 points, Steel FC have played two less games than the Hounds this campaign. Obtaining three points on Sunday will be essential to either team moving forward.
Brea(K) Out
This past weekend, second-half subs Kay Banjo and Kenroy Howell were pivotal in the Hounds 1-1 draw against Rochester. Both players helped set up Kevin Kerr, who scored the lone tally for the club. Banjo and Howell will be key for the Hounds, especially helping catalyze the attack, for the remainder of the season.
With his goal against Rochester on Saturday, Kerr now has 22 career tallies with the Hounds. This places the captain seventh on the club’s all-time list and just one goal from moving into a tie for sixth place with José Angulo and Phil Karn.
Bethlehem’s Cory Burke had one of his best games on the season last time Steel FC faced off against the Hounds, scoring twice in Bethlehem’s 3-2 defeat. The Hounds backline will need to lock in on Burke, who ranks No. 2 in goals (6) and No. 1 in shots (44) on his club, this Sunday.
