PITTSBURGH (November 14, 2018) – Pittsburgh Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA) midfielder J.J. Vozar has been named to the Columbus Crew SC under-12 Generation Adidas Cup roster.
Training with the Crew SC under-12 team since late October, Vozar has earned a spot on the squad once it departs for the Generation Adidas Cup, which will take place from Nov. 23-25 at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground (Atlanta United FC) in Marietta, Georgia.
“J.J. is a joy to coach,” said John Rotz, Vozar’s 2007 RDA Boys team coach. “He is a student of the game, a fierce competitor, a tireless trainer, and truly wants to get better every time he steps on the field. This is a great opportunity for J.J. to experience high-level competition at such a young age, and we wish him all the best in Georgia.”
Vozar is currently in his third season with the RDA and has been a part of numerous tournament championship teams, including the 2017 Coppa Classico-winning squad. This past year, he was identified as a top performer at his age group and was selected to participate in the club’s Pathway Program, which provides RDA athletes an opportunity to train with the Riverhounds SC professional team.
In addition to Vozar’s selection to the Crew SC under-12 Generation Adidas Cup roster, fellow 2007 RDA Boys team members Milo Chiu, Brayden Davin and Ethan Voight Cherna participated in the trials leading up to the final team selection.
